Subzero Compressor Replacement
I first begin removing the drawers and front cover of unit then slid the unit tray forward to access existing compressor. I prepped the new compressor and drier by removing the valve cores, then removed the existing compressor from the system. I swapped in the new compressor and drier, prepping the copper lines for brazing. Then I brazed in the new drier, followed by the compressor. The copper began pulling back and sliding out of the compressor, therefore with the channel locks I was able to push the line in until it cooled and hardened. I checked to see if the braze was good and leak free. I reinstalled the valve cores and installed the new electrical components to the compressor. Then I connected the vacuum pump to pull all the moisture out of the sealed system. This unit also had a bad condenser fan motor so I swapped that out too. I reinstalled the unit tray then charged the system with refrigerant to the factory specification, powered on and awaited cooling.
